How to learn English on your own
First of all, set clear learning goals. For example, I need to learn English to manage during my holidays in London.
From here, you can search for different educational materials on the Internet, books, videos or audios and exercises that allow you to practice and get closer to your goal.
Try to follow a logical order in your learning, that is, if you want to learn to write, read as much as you can in English to learn new vocabulary, expressions and grammar.

How to be a good self-learner
Having the capacity to be a self-taught person is not an impossible mission. That’s why we share with you below some basic principles that every self-learner should have:
1. Curiosity
You are on the right track if you like to investigate a topic until you have a clear answer. Making the effort to look for information and new material is the foundation of everything.
2. Humility
Every self-learner must be clear that to learn, sometimes it is necessary to stop and ask about what we do not know or understand, especially if we notice that we are not progressing in a specific topic.
Turning to people who know about the subject and talking it over will be a great help for you to move forward. That is why ABA English gives you access to several native teachers and resources to solve your doubts.
3. Consistency
Learning any subject on your own requires discipline and consistency. It’s no longer time to procrastinate.
Here are some very important factors that will help you be consistent:
- Study schedule: You must be one hundred percent realistic and honest when applying a schedule, without adding or subtracting hours depending on whether you feel motivated that day or not. Do it as is and take it as a challenge.
- Study place: Choose a distraction-free area at home. Avoid your bedroom, the living room, and any passageway. It will also help if the place has good lighting.
- Organization: Good organization in your work area and all the material, whether telematic or physical, will help you concentrate and you won’t waste time looking for files and/or information.
4. Relevance
Don’t waste time searching for unnecessary information that often can slow down your learning. Focus on finding the most relevant information and practice everything you have learned. For example, ABA English provides you with the exact information you need to progress depending on your level and your interests.
5. Test yourself
When you have all the exercises, take tests and quizzes to know if you master the new topic.
This point will help you be aware of your progress, giving you more motivation to continue.
