Like all Scottish English, the Edinburgh accent derives from Gaelic and, therefore, shares many of its features with the English spoken in the rest of the country. HOW IS THE EDINBURGH ENGLISH ACCENT PRONOUNCED?

The Edinburgh accent has many of the features of Scottish English, including rhoticity (the letter ‘r’ is clearly pronounced), something that is not found in the British English you study in academies. Also, it is one of the English accents that has the glottal ‘t’ and, thus, that sounds like tha’. If you find two short words together, pronounce them as if they were one, so, did not will sound like ‘didnae’.
