THE ENGLISH PosH ACCENT
The accent colloquially known as ‘posh’, technically called ‘Upper Received Pronunciation’ is generally associated with the aristocracy of England and also with some educational institutions, such as Oxford and Cambridge.

ENGLISH POSH ACCENT
Actually, it is not possible to attribute the posh accent to a particular region of England, but it is generally associated with a high social class or some specific educational institutions . Perhaps this is why sometimes it is said that there are people who alter their accents to achieve a higher social status. There are also those who associate this type of accent with the Queen.
Knowing this accent will help you a lot if you travel or want to do business, as we could say that it is the accent that has been attempted to be standardized and established as the most appropriate accent, especially due to the influence of the BBC, although this has changed in recent years.
HOW IS THE ENGLISH POSH ACCENT PRONOUNCED?
It is generally said that the posh accent tends to articulate consonants more carefully. But in reality, this does not cause much difference in English pronunciation. What does make a difference is the vowel system, as speakers of this accent use different positions to produce the sounds. Here we only show you some of the many you will find in this accent.
The /æ/ sound that appears in ‘man’ is pronounced more like /e/, as in ‘men’. In addition, it is a longer sound.
Another very characteristic sound is the final /i/ sound that is more open, approaching the /e/ position. That’s why, quickly will sound like /kwɪkle/ instead of /kwɪkli/.
Finally, the combination of sounds /aɪə/ as in the word wire and /aʊə/ as in hour, tend to become a long /ɑː/ sound. That is, for wirewe will hear / wɑː/ and for hour we will simply hear /ɑː/.
