Phonetically, the word jota in English is represented /dʒeɪ/ and the letter is pronounced like a vibrant Spanish ‘y’ preceded by a very soft ‘d’, something like ‘[d]yei’. As you can see, it is different from the ‘j’ we use to pronounce julio (July).
