The Cambridge Exam

We’ll help you prepare for the Cambridge exam

Cambridge University specializes in assessing and qualifying non-native English language proficiency. For this, it has developed five types of Cambridge exams, each one corresponding to a different certification.

At ABA English, we’re 100% aware of the content and methodology used in the Cambridge exams and have been developing materials that meet the needs of our students when it comes to learning the different skills that are evaluated in these tests. Below, we’ll share some information and tips to help you prepare efficiently for your Cambridge exam.

The best way to prepare for the Cambridge exams

First of all, you may already know this, but Cambridge has five different certifications, each one representing a different level of complexity. The names of the Cambridge English exams were recently changed to align with the names of the levels in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Here are the five Cambridge exams, with their former names in parentheses:

  • A2 Key (KET): Assesses the ability to communicate in simple situations.
  • B1 Preliminary (PET): Assesses mastery of the basics and everyday skills.
  • B2 First (FCE): Assesses functional communication in an English-speaking environment.
  • C1 Advanced (CAE): Assesses a superior level of language for professional or academic life.
  • C2 Proficiency (CPE): Assesses English proficiency at an exceptional level.

How will ABA English help you prepare? We offer you many resources to learn and practice with. However, if you’d prefer to take a course, our complete course has 144 units designed to strengthen your communication skills and reach the C1/Business level.
